It's everywhere, I'd be foolish not to try it and I can't afford to be very dogmatic. So here's how I use Google Gemini at the moment:
As a rubber duck. I write things, ask a quick question or generally get a little feedback on an idea I'm working on. I'm a solo dev so this works with the usual caveats
To generate one liners or small functions that I think it can handle that aren't fundamentally interesting to me but maybe needed
To do some research. Notebooklm is pretty interesting as a research tool.
So far I've never really vibe coded much or done a lot of agentic coding. I'm testing the waters but need a better setup first and the results so far have been more trouble than they're worth.
Again, I'm not dogmatic about this. I think AI is potentially useful as an aide but has so much baggage I totally understand why many hate it. On the other hand, it's hard to imagine a future where it plays a smaller role. I need to know how this works for me and my industry so I'll keep on testing the waters.
